An insight to what should be in your winter work wardrobe
It’s dark outside
There is nothing more difficult than waking up at 7am and it’s still dark outside and you’ve got to go to work. Getting the work outfits together in the winter months for me seem like a lot of effort. I mean when you’re looking out the window at 7am to get a general feel for what you should wear that day but can’t tell what the weather is like without looking at the weather forecast because it’s dark, where can anyone find the joy in picking clothes? 🤷🏽♀️ But I guess let’s not be negative. Winter clothes can look great and we do not necessary need to know the exact weather dynamics outside. After all it’s winter, we just need to wrap up right?
What clothes am I picking in the dark?
Let’s not have an attitude of lazy dressing during the colder months, we still need to look good. So here are my tips for the week (by all means the clothes I’m going to suggest do not have to be worn on the days I have used in the titles. I just thought it would be a fun way of setting out this blog. Roll on the week...
Monday
Thick tights
So you’re struggling to put away the summer dresses, or maybe the winter type skirts look too short for work? We’ll grab a pair of thick tights and you are good to go! This look is very feminine and sophisticated.
Tuesday
Boots
Yes boots, but not just any boots. Go for the heeled option to avoid looking too casual. Remember you are in the office so avoid the overly colourful patterned boots. Stick to the duller colours like black, grey and brown. Wearing a crop trouser with ankle boots instead of pumps can take a look from plain Jane to trendy.
Wednesday
Leather pants
This is a very risky look, but pull it off well and you can look amazing. Teaming your leather pants with a simple white shirt can elevate that basic shirt to edgy fashion woman. Just be careful not to opt for the very tight leather pants as these are not so appropriate for the work place.
Thursday
Statement coats
Technically you can wear your coat everyday but keep in mind that your coat is the eyes of your outfit. It’s the first thing others see so make it stand out. Invest in a bold coat this season. Whether it be a teddy bear coat, a trench, a Parker or a puffer, keep in mind that a bold coat is key.
Friday
Trainers
Yup, dress down Fridays call for trainers. It’s the end of he week, you’re tired of the heels and you’re unwinding so what better that slipping the trainers on. Chunky kicks seem to be the seasons must have but in all honesty any trainer is good, so long as they are not dirty 😒
